Sir Jeremy Greenstock was a British diplomat from 1969 to 2004, with postings in the United States, France, the United Arab Emirates, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia and at the United Nations. A graduate of Oxfor University, Greenstock was the United Kingdom’s permanent representative to the United Nations from 1998 to 2003 and played a major role in some of the strategic decisions on the war in Iraq, UN efforts to fight terrorism and the Security Council’s work to resolve conflicts in Africa. Greenstock was knighted in June 1998 and now directs the Ditchley Foundation, the Oxfordshire conference center addressing global change and international policy-making.
