Gro Harlem Brundtland: Nadia Younes Memorial Lecture 2012

Holder of a Master of Public Health from Harvard University and an MD from the University of Oslo, Dr. Gro Harlem Brundtland is a medical doctor who spent 10 years as a physician and scientist in the Norwegian public health system, where she worked on children’s health issues. Leading an active political career Brundtland served as minister of the environment from 1974 to 1979. In 1981, she was appointed prime minister of Norway for the first time. She was the youngest politician in Norway and the first woman in Scandinavia to become prime minister, holding that post for three terms.
