This year’s Nadia Younes Memorial Lecture features Dutch Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation Sigrid Kaag ’85. In 2015, Kaag received an honorary doctorate from the University of Exeter and was awarded the Carnegie Wateler Peace Prize in 2016 in recognition of her work in the Middle East. At the United Nations, Kaag served as a special coordinator of the OPCW-UN mission to Syria and, later, for Lebanon. Kaag also held various positions at the UNICEF including the Programme Division’s deputy director and regional director for the Middle East and North Africa. Kaag obtained her BA in Middle East studies from AUC in 1985.
